As St. Peter beckons and proudly proclaims,
Welcome Melroy, we’ve looked to this day;
The house is yours to do as you please;
Prepare the wine, music, and scrumptious feast.
Your friends below celebrate you with song
And at some point they will come along;
Until then, and may it be far away,
It is heaven that will rejoice on this day
From around the world, Canada, India, Jamaica,
and Grenada
From America, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Vincent, Antigua and Guyana
Look down and grace them with smiles
They are gathered round to bid you goodbye
Hear the sorrow in their voices, feel the grief in their hearts;
The burden they bear when you did depart;
But heaven rejoices well on this day,
For their loss is our gain, oh what a wonderful day.
They will miss your warmth, grace, and charm,
A realization they now know with striking alarm
They will miss those times well spent in your company
Each day that was a celebration with one or many
We have that now, and for this they are melancholy
They should not despair but celebrate and be jolly
For you are here, ready to prepare and greet friends;
Rejoice well with us, from now, until then. |
