What’s in a color beyond the visual,

What do you see?

Do you observe the texture, the hue, the tone?

Do you associate anything with my color?

Do you see the luminosity?

Did the clarity grace your sight?

Or do you see just a color?

Do you see a man,

Or is the man buried beneath the shade?

Does he look like all other men,

Or just men of similar color?

Did you dig any any deeper than the skin?

Is his blood red?

Is his heart pure?

Does he enjoy life?

Does he love?

Does he laugh?

Does he make mistakes?

Does he repent?

Does he rejoice?

Does he appreciate life?

Do you see his goodness?

Do you see his passions?

Do  you just see his color?

Do you just see a black man?
